MORGANTOWN, WV — Bailey Maupin scored a season-high 27 points to help No. 17 Texas Tech remain unbeaten, lifting the Lady Raiders to a 71-66 win over West Virginia on Wednesday night at Hope Coliseum. The victory marked Tech’s first win in Morgantown since 2015 and only its third road win against the Mountaineers in program history.
Texas Tech (17-0, 4-0 Big 12), the league’s last unbeaten team, got a dominant performance from Maupin, who shot 8 of 15 from the field, made a career-high four 3-pointers and went 7 of 8 at the free-throw line. She added four rebounds, three assists and a steal, securing her 15th double-figure scoring game of the season and her third with 20 or more points.
Snudda Collins added 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting, hitting six of seven from the line. Jalynn Bristow narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds and a career-best three assists. Denae Fritz continued her strong shooting stretch, finishing with nine points, eight rebounds and three 3-pointers.
The game featured 15 lead changes and five ties, but Tech ultimately prevailed by shooting 44.4% from the field and 47.1% from 3-point range (8 for 17). The Lady Raiders outrebounded West Virginia 37–33, including 16 offensive boards, and held the Mountaineers (13-3, 3-1) to 38.7% shooting and just 6-of-21 from beyond the arc.
After leading 31-28 at halftime, Texas Tech traded baskets with West Virginia throughout the third quarter and trailed 53-50 entering the fourth. Maupin’s second-chance 3-pointer early in the final period helped spark a late rally, and Tech closed the game on a decisive 9–2 run. Maupin and Collins combined to hit key free throws in the final seconds, while late steals by Maupin and Gemma Núñez sealed the win.
Texas Tech returns to action Saturday when it travels to Cincinnati for a 1 p.m. CT matchup against the Bearcats.
