Lubbock Police Arrest One Man in Connection to Two Shootings

LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock police have arrested a suspect in connection with two shootings in Central Lubbock on Jan. 6, including one that left a man seriously injured.

Officers first responded to reports of shots fired in the 600 block of Avenue Q around 1:10 p.m. Evidence confirmed a shooting occurred, but no victims were found, police said (case 260000499).

Later that night, at 11:26 p.m., officers were called to another shots-fired report in the 4800 block of Avenue Q. When they arrived, police found Joe Reyes, 37, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Reyes was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center with serious injuries (case 260000572).

During the investigation, detectives identified Drukerick Dickson as the sole suspect in the shooting that injured Reyes. Evidence also linked Dickson to the earlier shooting the same day, police said.

After several days of searching, members of the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center located Dickson around 7 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the 1900 block of 21st Street. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center. Dickson is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
