LUBBOCK, TX — No. 2 Texas Tech will head west this week as the Red Raiders travel to Palm Springs, California, to compete in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic beginning Thursday.
Texas Tech (11-1) opens the tournament at 5:30 p.m. CT against Fresno State before facing Team Japan in an exhibition at 8 p.m. CT.
The Red Raiders will then play Bethune-Cookman at 12:30 p.m. CT Friday, followed by a Saturday doubleheader against Cal State Fullerton (2 p.m. CT) and San Diego State (4:30 p.m. CT). Tech wraps up the event Sunday at 11 a.m. CT against UC Riverside. All games will stream on FloCollegeSports.
Texas Tech enters the weekend still experimenting with its lineup under coach Gerry Glasco, who has yet to use the same starting group in consecutive games. The Red Raiders used 57 different lineups in 68 games last season and have already played at least 14 athletes in a game six times this year.
Kaitlyn “KT” Terry has been one of Tech’s top performers, batting .480 with five RBIs while posting a 4-0 record and 0.98 ERA in the circle. She has struck out 35 batters and issued only four walks across 21⅓ innings while maintaining a perfect fielding percentage.
NiJaree Canady (4-1, 1.57 ERA) and Samantha Lincoln (0.78 ERA) have also anchored the pitching staff, combining for 44 strikeouts in 44⅔ innings.
Texas Tech’s offense set a program record with 64 runs during opening weekend, surpassing the previous mark of 43 set in 2019, and hit a school-record 12 home runs over the same stretch.
