HIGHLIGHTS: Frenship Falls to Southlake Carroll in Area Championship Shootout

The Frenship Tigers battled the No. 4 ranked Southlake Carroll Dragons in an Area Championship shootout in Abilene on Friday night. The Tigers jumped to an early 14-0 lead, extended it to 21-7, and went into halftime tied at 28-28. Frenship continued to fight in the second half, tying the game 42-42 on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Holden Phillips to Leyton Stone with 6:35 remaining. However, Carroll answered with a game-winning 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Angelo Renda with 3:18 left. Despite a late drive to Carroll’s 25-yard line, the Tigers tried everything in the bag to get closer but ended up falling 49-42. Frenship Tigers Leyton Stone scored four touchdowns, and Chase Campbell added two for Frenship in a hard-fought 2-6A Division Area Championship matchup.
