FRISCO, TX — NFL Hall of Famer and Dallas Cowboys Legend Larry Allen has died. The Cowboys announced on Monday that Allen suddenly died while on vacation with his family in Mexico. He was 52 years old.
“The Dallas Cowboys are very saddened to share that Cowboys Legend, Super Bowl Champion, Cowboys Ring of Honor member, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Larry Allen passed away suddenly while on vacation in Mexico with his family on Sunday,” the Dallas Cowboys said in a statement. “Larry was known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, and he was one of the most respected and accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL.”
The Cowboys also said that memorial service arrangements will be announced in the near future.
Dallas drafted Allen in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft. Allen was selected to the Pro Bowl in 10 out of 12 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He also earned seven All-Pro selections. He was a member of the Cowboys’ Super Bowl XXX Championship team alongside Troy Aikman, Michael Irving, and Emmitt Smith.
He was widely regarded as one of the physically strongest players to ever set foot on an NFL football field. He played his final two seasons in San Francisco before signing a 1-day contract to retire a Dallas Cowboy in 2009. The NFL inducted Allen into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
Larry Allen was one of the greatest Offensive Linemen to ever play professional football.
