Former Red Raider Commits to Angelo State

LUBBOCK, TX — A Texas Tech Red Raider is headed to San Angelo to play baseball for Angelo State. Ryan Free, a regular in the pitching rotation for the Red Raiders over the past few years, announced on Thursday, June 13, that he committed to Angelo State Baseball.

Free will use his final year of college eligibility in San Angelo. The now-former Red Raider brings a talented arm to the Rams’ bullpen, which is fresh off a runner-up finish at the 2024 Division II College World Series. Free made the announcement on his x page early on Thursday.

Ryan Free concluded his junior year at Texas Tech as a reliable bullpen option for the Red Raiders. He finished the season with a 5-4 record, 4.11 ERA (earned run average), and pitched a total of 46 innings. He earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on April 17th, 2023, after two lights-out performances against No. 8 Standford and Oklahoma. In 2024, the Frisco native finished with a 6-2 record and a 6.36 ERA in a year where the Red Raiders struggled with injuries.
