EA Sports Officially Launches College Football 25

LUBBOCK, TX — More than a decade has passed since the last release of a college football video game. On Friday, EA Sports College Football 25 hits the shelves and is one of the most anticipated video games of all time.

The game officially launches on Friday, July 19. Those who preordered the deluxe edition of the game had early access since Tuesday, but everyone else can join the fold today. After a decades-long absence due to name, image, and likeness issues with the NCAA and its players, EA Sports and the NCAA finally have a deal worked out that will make this game one of the most complete college football experiences ever created.

Like Madden, there used to be a featured athlete on the cover of college football games, but this year, in what EA described as a "love letter to college football and its fans,” multiple athletes from several schools appeared on the cover.

The three main athletes in the cover image include Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers. The Southlake Carroll graduate enters his senior year with the Longhorns this year after falling to Washington in the College Football Playoff last season. The eventual national champion Michigan Wolverines saw running back Donovan Edwards get a feature, as did Travis Hunter from the Colorado Buffaloes.

This game offers a ton of new and old features that have all college football fans ready to play. There is still a classic arcade mode where players can face off against each other with their college of choice or against an A.I. opponent. Additionally, the dynasty mode is back. Players can put on the headset and coach and recruit their way to a national title before leaving for another school or building a dynasty.

The most anticipated mode is probably the Road to Glory. Players either start out as a 2, 3, 4, or 5-star recruit out of high school and have to earn their way onto the field. It is an in-depth process that includes going to class, dealing with practice, and earning a starting job. Once the player starts on the team, the next goal is the NFL Draft.

One of the cooler features in the Ultimate Team Mode will feature past college football players who have had success during and after their college careers. Texas Tech fans will be able to use Red Raider legends Michael Crabtree and Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

There are two editions available for purchase at local retailers or on digital download. The standard edition costs $69.99, and the deluxe edition with additional features costs around $88.
