LUBBOCK, TX — The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently recognized the Lubbock Christian University volleyball program as a 2023-2024 Team Academic Award recipient.
LCU's volleyball program achieved a 3.67 GPA during the 2023-24 school year, marking the second-highest GPA among LCU's athletic programs for the second consecutive academic term. The Lady Chaparrals maintained at least a 3.30 team GPA to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award.
This recognition marks the 10th time the AVCA has honored LCU at the NCAA Division II level and the 16th time overall, including the program's NAIA seasons since the award's inception in 1992-93. The Lady Chaps volleyball program has received this honor for seven consecutive seasons.
The Lady Chaps continue to display excellence on and off the court. Last season, LCU finished with a 17-9 overall record, an improvement from 11-16 the previous season, but missed out on the postseason. The Lady Chaps look to improve again headed into this year so that LCU can challenge the LSC's top teams.
The Lady Chaps are preparing for the 2024 season, which opens on September 6 in Pueblo, Colorado.
