LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech's softball team secured the No. 1 spot in Softball America’s top transfer classes for the 2024 offseason, announced Monday.
The Red Raiders landed eight players in Softball America's top 100 transfers, with reigning Player of the Year NiJaree Canady leading the group at No. 1. Canady is joined by Mihyia Davis (No. 10), Alana Johnson (No. 15), Chloe Riassetto (No. 20), Alexa Langeliers (No. 36), Lauren Allred (No. 47), Katie Lott (No. 87), and Victoria Valdez (No. 89).
Texas Tech also added Lubbock native Makayla Garcia from the transfer portal. The Red Raiders also welcome the nation's No. 2 recruiting class, according to Extra Innings Softball.
Under the leadership of head coach Gerry Glasco, the program has been quick to make an impact in recruiting, successfully signing nine of the ten transfers brought to campus for the upcoming season.
The Lady Raiders finished with a 29-21 overall record in 2023 and an 8-16 conference record in the Big 12. Texas Tech will definitely look to improve upon its conference record as it competes against the new members of the conference. Both Texas and the defending champion Oklahoma Sooners departed for the SEC at the end of last season.
