Lubbock High Falls in the Quarterfinals at the Nita Vannoy Memorial Tournament

SAN ANGELO, TX — The 2024 Nita Vannoy Memorial Volleyball Tournament kicks off this weekend in San Angelo, and the Lubbock area has two teams competing who look to take home a championship.

The Lubbock High Westerners and the Levelland Lady Lobos made the drive down into the Concho Valley this weekend to put in some work and improve across the board.

They opened the tournament against each other, and Lubbock High was able to rally for an exciting three-set win.

The Lady Westerners were three points away from being swept down 22-21 in the second set, but they were clutch down the stretch and pulled off a 20-25, 26-24, 25-22 comeback win.

Lubbock High faced another tense finish in its second match and survived for a 26-24, 28-26 win over Clint Horizon.

The Lady Westerners lost to defending tournament champ San Angelo Central in the final match of the day, but they still advanced to the Silver Division on Saturday as the second-place finisher out of their pool.

Unfortunately for the Lady Westerners, El Paso Jefferson proved to much in the quarterfinals. Lubbock High played tough but lost to Jefferson in the end. Lubbock High has one final match against Alpine before they head back to Lubbock.
