Lubbock Fire Rescue to Begin Burn Out Operations

 

LUBBOCK, TX – Lubbock Fire Rescue will conduct a burn-out operation at the Yellow House River Fire site on August 27, 2024, according to a press release. 

Weather permitting, the operation will begin early Tuesday morning and continue through the afternoon. The purpose of this burn-out is to mitigate the risk of fire spread at the site.

Lubbock Fire Rescue also issued a statement on X regarding the burn-out operation.

The operation will be situated near the intersection of East 50th Street and East Loop 289, where Lubbock Fire Rescue personnel will ensure the burn is managed safely and effectively. The burn-out aims to remove excess brush, dead vegetation, and other potential fire fuels, the release stated.

Residents in the vicinity should anticipate significant smoke during the operation.
