Firefighters entered the building to control the fire and conduct a primary search. They faced significant difficulties navigating the home, which was being used for storage and featured two separate attic spaces, complicating their efforts to locate and extinguish the blaze.

Due to deteriorating fire conditions, crews were forced to evacuate and shift to a defensive approach.

The fire was eventually brought under control and unfortunately, the house was declared a total loss.

One firefighter was transported to University Medical Center for evaluation and was released early Friday morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Lubbock Fire Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office.
