IDALOU, TX — The intersection of FM 400 and E County Rd 5840 remained closed as of 10 p.m. as the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) continued investigating a collision between an 18-wheeler and an ATV.
According to DPS, the crash was first reported around 6 p.m., and the investigation has now extended into its fifth hour.
All roads leading to the intersection have been closed, with no traffic allowed to pass. The Idalou Fire Department is currently securing all four approaches to the intersection, and that includes the two dirt roads. Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies were also at the scene.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the ATV driver sustained serious injuries. Bystanders performed CPR on the injured driver until EMS arrived. However, DPS has not yet released any official information regarding the incident.
