LUBBOCK, TX — The 2024 NFL season kicks off on Thursday, September 5, and 13 former Texas Tech players will be featured this season.
Eight former players are currently on active 53-man rosters for week one, while one is listed on the injured reserve. Four have earned their way onto practice squads.
The season is set to kick off this Thursday at 7:20 p.m. CT with two Red Raiders going head-to-head on NBC, which will feature none other than Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes II and the Kansas City Chiefs hosting Broderick Washington Jr. and the Baltimore Ravens.
On Sunday at noon, two Red Raiders will be on opposite sides again when Jacksonville (Myles Cole) travels to Miami (Jordyn Brooks). Also, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson will make his rookie debut on the road in Buffalo in the early games.
A trio of games will feature Red Raiders in the late afternoon window. Tyree Wilson and Las Vegas will be on the road at the Chargers, while Terence Steele and the Cowboys will be on the road at Cleveland. Tyler Owens, who made the Washington Commanders active 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent, will hit the road for his first career game at Tampa Bay.
