Texas Tech Lady Raiders Dominate Oregon

LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech Soccer powered past Oregon with a 5-1 victory Thursday night at the John Walker Soccer Complex, marking their third consecutive win. The Lady Raiders (5-2) delivered a dominant first-half performance, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes and five overall before halftime.

Defender Macy Blackburn ignited the early scoring just three minutes into the match with a 25-yard rocket for her first goal of the season. Blackburn followed that up with an assist on the second goal. She sent a perfect long ball to Ashleigh Williams, who netted her first goal of the season after breaking through the Oregon defense. The assist was Blackburn's 27th career assist, tying her with Texas Tech Hall of Famer Taylor Lytle for the program’s all-time record.

Sophomore Storie Sexton added to the scoring frenzy in the 15th minute, tapping in her first career goal after a quick one-two pass sequence with Elise Anderson. Texas Tech continued their offensive surge with goals in the 33rd and 36th minutes, courtesy of Skylar Haase and Kaitlyn Giametta. Giametta's strike came from the penalty spot, securing her second goal in as many games.

Oregon's Taylor Bryan scored a consolation goal in the 69th minute, but the Red Raiders cruised to victory, closing non-conference play with five wins out of seven total matches.

Goalkeeper Faith Nguyen returned from injury to make one save in 80 minutes of action. The win also extended Texas Tech’s regular-season home unbeaten streak to 17 matches and marked their 59th consecutive win when scoring at least three goals.

Texas Tech begins Big 12 play next Thursday in Fort Worth against preseason poll favorite TCU. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
