Fiestas del Llano Parade: March for History and Win Cash Prizes

 

LUBBOCK, TX – Fiestas del Llano, Inc. will host its annual parade on Saturday, September 14, at 10:00 a.m. The event will celebrate Mexican Independence and Hispanic Heritage Month, and the community is invited to join in the festivities.

The parade, themed "Creadores de Historia" (Creators of History), honors those who have shaped history through their courage and vision. According to the Fiestas del Llano Board Members, this theme reflects the idea that everyone has the potential to create their history. The parade commemorates the soldiers who fought for Mexican Independence and their legacy of freedom for future generations.

The parade will start at the First Baptist Church south parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and will proceed east on Broadway to Avenue M, turning north toward the Mahon Library & Civic Center parking lot.

Prizes will be awarded for the best floats that embody the parade theme, with $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place.
