Saturday Motorcycle Crash Sends One to the Hospital

LUBBOCK, TX – The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating a Saturday morning crash in South Lubbock that left a man seriously injured.

Lubbock Officers were called to South Loop 289 and University Avenue at 7:51 a.m. on September 14 for reports of a motorcycle crash.

“Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears a motorcycle, driven by 30-year-old Robert Blanco, and a pickup towing a trailer, driven by 77-year-old Dean Gamez, were traveling east in the 2400 block of South Loop 289,” the LPD said. “Blanco struck the trailer, losing control of the motorcycle before striking a guardrail.”

Blanco was not wearing a helmet and was transported to University Medical Center by EMS with serious injuries.

The Lubbock Police department also said that the investigation is ongoing.
