FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton has been recognized by the Davey O'Brien Foundation's "Great 8" committee after an outstanding performance in Week 3 against North Texas. Morton, who passed for 273 yards and four touchdowns in just two quarters of play, was among 16 quarterbacks honored by the committee on Monday.
The committee opted to expand its usual "Great 8" honoree list to 16 quarterbacks this week, using its "Davey Double" option due to the number of notable performances across the country. As a result of his selection, Morton has been added to the Davey O'Brien Award's Midseason Watch List, placing him among the top quarterbacks vying for the prestigious award.
In addition to Morton, other quarterbacks recognized in Week 3's "Davey Double" Great 8 include Alan Bowman (Oklahoma State), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), Tucker Gleason (Toledo), Eli Holstein (Pitt), KJ Jefferson (UCF), Avery Johnson (Kansas State), Riley Leonard (Notre Dame), Arch Manning (Texas), John Mateer (Washington State), Jalen Milroe (Alabama), Kurtis Rourke (Indiana), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), Christian Veilleux (Georgia State), and Caden Veltkamp (Western Kentucky).
