Ringtail Ranch Hosts 2nd Annual Lubbock Lemur Day

LUBBOCK, TX – Ringtail Ranch Lemur Rescue & Edzoocational Center is gearing up for its 2nd Annual Lubbock Lemur Day on Thursday, September 19. This special day was officially recognized as a Lubbock holiday in 2023 by Mayor Tray Payne, celebrating the 62 remarkable lemurs who made their home in the Hub City.

To mark the occasion, Ringtail Ranch will offer a variety of engaging activities from September 19 to September 27. Events include up-close lemur encounters, painting workshops, and even kangaroo yoga.

According to a press release, lemurs are facing severe threats, with estimates suggesting they could be extinct in the wild within 20 to 30 years. In the U.S., particularly in Texas, they are often victims of the pet trade. Among the lemurs at Ringtail Ranch, eight are critically endangered and play a crucial role in efforts to conserve their species.
