I-27 Repairs Move to US 84 Frontage Road Monday

LUBBOCK, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation has announced the completion of repairs on the 66th Street Bridge at I-27. Starting Monday, crews will shift their focus to the eastbound US 84 frontage road bridge at I-27.

TxDOT stated that barricades will be set up on the bridge, necessitating the closure of the eastbound frontage road bridge to traffic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this time, southbound I-27 frontage road drivers wishing to access eastbound US 84 will be redirected to 66th Street.

Additionally, bridge traffic will be reduced to one lane while repairs are ongoing. The left lane of the southbound I-27 frontage road will also be closed.

This work is part of a $1.9 million project that includes replacing joints and bearing pads, making concrete repairs, and upgrading guardrail fencing on the bridge structures.

Project completion is expected by late 2025, with all activities subject to weather conditions.
