LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech’s next away game against the Arizona Wildcats on October 5 kicks off at 10 p.m. The Big 12 Conference announced on Monday, September 22, the game time as part of its 12-day television selections. The game will be aired on Fox.
The Red Raiders' kickoff time will be rough for many. While it will be 8 p.m. in Arizona, many people around Lubbock will be up well past midnight if they want to watch the complete game.
This will be Texas Tech's second late-night kick of the season, as the Red Raiders previously began the Washington State game at 9 p.m. The 10 p.m. kick matches the second-latest known start time in school history, as the Red Raiders previously faced UTEP at 10 p.m. in 2014 and then Oklahoma State at 11 p.m. local time as part of the 1988 Coca-Cola Bowl in Tokyo, Japan.
Texas Tech and Arizona will meet for the 34th time in history as the Red Raiders lead the overall series with a 26-5-2 advantage. It will be the first meeting between the two schools as Big 12 members as both Texas Tech and Arizona were once league counterparts in the Border Conference but have faced each other only once since 1989.
Arizona won the last time these two teams met, topping the Red Raiders, 28-14, early in the 2019 season in Tucson. The return game of that home-and-home series was postponed a year later due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Red Raiders will head to Arizona after closing a three-game homestand this Saturday with Cincinnati. Kickoff between the Red Raiders and Bearcats is slated for 7 p.m. in front of a sellout crowd at Jones AT&T Stadium.
