Texas Tech Women's Golf Wins Red Raider Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Tech women's golf team captured the Red Raider Invitational team championship on Wednesday at the Rawls Course, besting 15 visiting teams with an 8-under-par 856 in the 54-hole tournament. It was the second-straight home win for the Red Raiders, as they also won the Red Raider Invitational in 2023.

Texas Tech was led by Klara Hurtova, who matched her single-round career-low in the final round on Wednesday, firing a 5-under-par 67. The sophomore's career-low propelled her into a tie for second place (at 6-under-par), trailing Kent State's Veronika Kedroňová by one stroke for the Red Raider Invitational individual crown. Hurtova opened with a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine and then caught fire on the back side, shooting 4-under with five birdies, including a stretch of three birdies in a row on holes 11, 12, and 13.

Maja Ambroziak, the 2023 Red Raider Invitational individual champion, claimed a top-five finish in this year's event behind a 54-hole 4-under-par (212). The sophomore played steady golf through the event's three rounds, carding below-par scores in each round (71-70-71). She was the sole Red Raider and one of five overall in the 88-player field to own three below-par rounds in the Red Raider Invitational.

Two more Red Raiders found themselves in the top 20 of the individual leaderboard in junior Lauren Zaretsky and Danique Stokmans. Zaretsky finished the tournament 1-under-par (71-72-72), tying for 12th place. Stokmans, a first-year transfer via Oregon State, had her best finish in her young Texas Tech career as she tied for 16th with a 54-hole 2-over-par (72-71-75).

The Red Raiders will return to action, Oct. 7-8, at the Women's Invitational at Medinah, hosted by Illinois.
