Lubbock Estacado Faces Tough Test Against Canyon Randall

LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Estacado Matadors travel to Canyon on Thursday night, September 26, to face off with the Canyon Randall Raiders. After a tough loss at home to Sweetwater last week, the Matadors look to break the losing streak on the road Thursday.

Penalties continue to be an issue for the Matadors. Against Sweetwater, those mental mistakes allowed the Mustangs to build a lead that Estacado couldn’t surmount. The Matadors road does not get any easier, as Randall enters Thursday night’s matchup undefeated at 4-0.

South Plains LIVE!’s Ryan Chadwick spoke with Estacado’s Head Coach, Eric Ward, at the Lubbock ISD Coaches Media Luncheon on Thursday morning to see what the Matadors need to do to climb back into the win column.

Lubbock Estacado still finds itself in the driver’s seat ahead of the start of district play. There isn’t anyone in their district that has had a stellar start to the 2024 season. If the Matadors clean up the mental mistakes that plagued Estacado over the past few weeks, then they have a real opportunity to win a district championship this season.
