SWAT Team Responds to Domestic Disturbance in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX — A heavy police presence was observed in the 6600 block of Chicago Avenue on Friday morning, September 27, following a SWAT callout, according to the Lubbock Police Department.

The situation concluded later in the morning with the arrest of 44-year-old Davey Stanford.

Officers were dispatched around 8:26 a.m. after a third-party caller reported a disturbance involving two family members. LPD stated that officers encountered a man and a woman at the front door when they arrived at the address.

The man allegedly slammed the door in the officers' faces, while the woman began screaming for help. Negotiators and the SWAT unit were called to the scene.

The woman was eventually able to exit the home safely. Although police have not confirmed whether Stanford possessed a firearm, they reported that he threatened the woman with a knife.

To control the situation, the SWAT team deployed a "chemical agent" inside the residence. Stanford was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Unlawful Restraint and Aggravated Assault.

No injuries were reported, according to the police.
