MANHATTAN, KS – No. 25 Texas Tech Soccer secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Kansas State on Thursday night, powered by two goals from corner kicks at Buser Family Park.
The Red Raiders (8-2-1, 3-0-1 Big 12) took an early lead when Peyton Annen scored her third career goal, and her first as a Red Raider, off a deflected corner. Kansas State (3-7-1, 0-4-0) briefly leveled the match in the 39th minute after intercepting a pass for their lone goal of the evening.
Texas Tech responded swiftly, taking just 57 seconds to regain the lead. Kaitlyn Giametta found the back of the net, scoring her fourth goal of the season off a loose ball in the box. Both goals were set up by sophomore Taylor Zdrojewski, who registered her second and third assists of the season.
Red Raiders' goalkeeper Faith Nguyen made two crucial saves to secure her third consecutive win, bringing her total to six victories this season.
With the win, Texas Tech extended their Big 12 unbeaten streak to 21 matches (17-0-4), leading all power conferences, and continued their impressive road unbeaten streak to 12 games (8-0-4).
Texas Tech outshot Kansas State 22-6 and took a season-high 14 corner kicks in the victory. Up next, the Red Raiders seek to close a three-match road swing, 3-0-0, on Sunday afternoon when they head to Houston to face the Cougars at 1 p.m.
