DICKENS COUNTY, TX — A Lubbock man was killed Sunday afternoon, October 6, in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 82 in Dickens County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified the driver as 28-year-old Hahyung Yang. According to DPS officials, Yang was driving a 2012 Infiniti westbound on U.S. Highway 82, east of County Road 259, at approximately 12:35 p.m. when the crash occurred.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Yang's vehicle entered the south median. As he attempted to correct the vehicle’s path, he lost control, causing the vehicle to roll before coming to a stop in the barrow ditch.

Yang was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Emergency responders transported him to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, where he was later pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the accident.

The posted speed limit in the area was 75 mph. Conditions at the time of the crash were clear, and the roads were dry, according to DPS reports. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.

The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
