Big Spring Woman Killed in Crash South of Slaton

 

SLATON, TX — A Big Spring woman was killed in a crash southeast of Slaton Saturday.

According to the Texas DPS, Erin Nichole Osborn, 39, of Big Spring was northbound on FM 212 in Lynn County. Upon reaching the intersection with US 84, DPS reported that Osborn failed to yield the right-of-way to traffic on the major highway. She had a stop sign. She pulled out onto the highway in her 2015 Nissan Versa just as 18-year-old Nelson Wayne Friesenhahn was southeast bound driving a 2022 Ram 1500 pickup truck. The Ram collided with the Versa.

Osborn was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Friesenhahn was rushed to Covenant Medical Center with serious injuries. 

Both drivers were sole occupants and were wearing seat belts, DPS reported.

The speed limit on US 84 is 75 mph. The crash happened Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at 2:20 p.m. It was daylight and the weather was clear while the roadways were dry.
