LUBBOCK, TX — The “Broadway Block Party,” a celebration to kick off the Texas Tech Basketball season, is set for Monday, October 28. According to a release, a Flex Court will be set up on the historic brick street, giving fans an opportunity to interact with players from both the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
The celebration will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in front of Chimy’s, with a section of Broadway Street closed to traffic. The evening will feature activities, including games, team introductions, skill contests, and a fireworks display to conclude the festivities. Players will compete in events such as ‘knockout’ and a 3-point contest, while young fans will have the chance to participate in a kid's slam dunk contest.
Admission is free for all students and fans.
The 2024-25 college basketball season kicks off in Lubbock with back-to-back games at United Supermarkets Arena. The Lady Raiders will face Incarnate Word at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, followed by the Red Raiders hosting Bethune-Cookman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5.
