LUBBOCK, TX — In collaboration with the City of Lubbock Water Utilities Department and Solid Waste Department, the Keep Lubbock Beautiful Program has announced Cooper Drive-In as the 2024 winner of Lubbock’s Leading Landscape.
According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, this annual recognition honors businesses and non-profit organizations that showcase landscaping practices promoting water conservation and environmental stewardship.
The award criteria focus on landscapes that prioritize more plants than grass, utilize native and drought-tolerant species, and maintain well-kept planting beds. The KLB Board selected the nominees and presented them for public voting.
This year, three properties were nominated for the award: Cooper Drive-In at 3225 114th Street, Covenant Hospital Hope Tower at 3615 19th Street, and UMC Health and Wellness Hospital at 11011 Slide Road. Cooper Drive-In claimed the winner with a narrow margin of just 44 votes, followed by Covenant Hospital Hope Tower and UMC Health and Wellness Hospital.
Cooper Drive-In will be officially recognized at a ceremony on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the winning location. The public is invited to celebrate this achievement and to visit all nominated landscapes.
