Texas Tech Set to Bounce Back Against TCU on the Road

FORT WORTH, TX — The Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) travel to Fort Worth this Saturday, October 26, for a Big 12 Conference matchup against the TCU Horned Frogs. Texas Tech suffered a blowout loss to Baylor a weekend ago and looks to right the ship this weekend.

The game will mark the 67th meeting between the two teams, with Texas Tech holding a 33-30-3 advantage in the all-time series. The rivalry dates back to their days as Southwest Conference foes, though the Saddle Trophy was reintroduced in 2017. Last season, the Red Raiders snapped a four-game losing streak to the Horned Frogs with a 35-28 victory in Lubbock.

Texas Tech will be led by running back Tahj Brooks, who is chasing history this weekend. Brooks needs 144 rushing yards to become the third Red Raider and ninth player in Big 12 history to reach 4,000 career rushing yards. The senior ranks third in the nation with 134.0 rushing yards per game. He is also on a streak of 17 consecutive games with at least 95 rushing yards, second only to Mohamed Ibrahim’s 19-game streak for Minnesota from 2020-2022.

The Red Raiders have shown a trend this season, boasting a perfect 5-0 record when they win the turnover battle and struggling to an 0-2 mark when losing it. TCU (4-3, 2-2 Big 12) has faced its own issues in that area, currently sitting at minus-10 in turnover margin.

Fans can also tune in to the Texas Tech Sports Network, which will carry the game on more than 46 affiliates in Texas and New Mexico, as well as on SiriusXM channel 391.

The Red Raiders have two remaining home games this season, with the Nov. 9 game against Colorado already sold out. Texas Tech has seen sellouts in three of its six home games, with near-capacity crowds in the others.
