LUBBOCK, TX — The Student Senate of Texas Tech University has passed Senate Resolution 60.26, authored by Senators Johannes Villarreal, Duarte Boyer, Siwar Kefi, and Savannah Armitage. This resolution calls for the university to implement a program by August 2025 that provides free feminine hygiene products in at least one women’s restroom in every building with restroom facilities.
According to a press release, the resolution also emphasizes the need to label and advertise these designated restrooms throughout campus.
This new resolution comes nearly five years after the passage of Resolution 55.59 on November 21, 2019, which also sought to improve access to these products. Since then, the university has yet to establish uniform availability. To prevent further delays, Resolution 60.26 sets a clear implementation goal.
Texas Tech University acknowledges that several other Texas institutions, including the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, and Texas Woman’s University, offer greater access to feminine hygiene products than Texas Tech.
A related resolution is currently under consideration, urging the Texas Tech University System to adopt a similar program across all campuses by August 2026.
