LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Estacado Matadors (4-4, 2-0) face an all-important district test on Friday night, October 25, against the Borger Bulldogs (3-4, 1-0). A win on Friday night would guarantee the Matadors at least a share in the District 2-4A Title.
The Matadors currently ride a three-game winning streak headed into the contest with Borger. Estacado comes off an impressive, 47-13, win over Perryton last weekend in a contest where the Matadors truly showed what they are capable of on both sides of the football.
On the other side of the field, the Bulldogs handled business against Lubbock-Cooper Liberty, 54-23, to move to 1-0 in district play. At 3-4 on the year, the Bulldogs, like the Matadors, continue to be a work in progress. However, it seems like Borger has also found its stride as the Bulldogs come into this matchup with a two-game winning streak.
This football game is sure to be an entertaining one. Both offenses are capable of executing at a high level when firing on all cylinders. Lubbock Estacado’s defense might have the edge with the athleticism on that side of the ball. On offense, Estacado will look to continue to lean on its two feature backs, Bobby Ross and Cedric Ross, to make explosive plays happen. While Cedric Ross might be listed as a wide receiver on the depth chart, the young man has proven to be absolutely lethal in the open field.
Kickoff in this matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, October 25. The Matadors host the Bulldogs out at Plains Capital Park at Lowrey Field.
