CHILDRESS COUNTY, TX — The Childress County Sheriff’s Office released an update on the arrest of Seth Altman, 33, who was taken into custody on Friday in Fort Worth after a weeks-long search.
Altman was wanted in connection with the shooting injury of Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant.
Altman faces a charge of attempted capital murder of a peace officer or fireman stemming from an incident on October 3, when Chief Plant was shot while attempting to serve a burglary warrant at a home.
Following the shooting, a statewide "Blue Alert" was issued from Hall County on October 4, and Altman was added to Texas' 10 Most Wanted fugitives list.
Reports indicate that Altman was arrested around 5 p.m. on Friday, October 25, in Fort Worth and was initially held in Tarrant County.
On Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Altman has been extradited back to Childress County, where he has been booked into the county jail.
His bond has been set at $1 million.
