LUBBOCK, TX — As of early Friday morning, November 1, early voting in Lubbock County has seen a less-than-average turnout of registered voters casting their ballots.
According to the Texas Secretary of State, Lubbock County's early voting percentage stands at 47.21% as of Friday, with 93,102 ballots submitted out of 197,198 registered voters.
The website indicates that 7,472 Lubbock voters went to the polls on October 29, followed by 6,811 on October 30 and 5,768 on October 31. This data shows a gradual downward trend of citizens going to the polls to cast their ballots, hoping for a higher turnout on Election Day on November 5.
The data shows that similarly populated Hays County near Austin has over 10,000 fewer registered voters than Lubbock County, yet the county has a 50.43% early voting turnout.
Randall County, south of Amarillo, has only 100,105 registered voters, but more than half of its citizens have participated in early voting, at 50.32%.
As the last day of early voting wraps up, Lubbock County officials encourage residents to cast their ballots on Election Day, November 5, as turnout lags behind similar populated counties in Texas.
