Car Crashes into Lakeridge Golf Course, Misses Golfers

LUBBOCK, TX — A Jeep Compass crashed onto the Lakeridge Country Club Golf Course near 93rd Street and Quaker Avenue on Monday, Nov. 11, injuring the driver and closely missing a group of high school golfers.

The vehicle crashed into a fence near the 12th hole while a high school tournament was underway. Reports say four teens were in the car at the time.

The crash occurred just before a group of female golfers and their parents passed through the 12th hole.

Authorities say the driver, a teenager, was allegedly under the influence of nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas.” There has recently been a growing trend of people using "Galaxy Gas" to get high.

The driver sustained minor injuries, but no one else was hurt. Authorities are continuing to investigate, though no charges have been filed at this time.

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
