LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Estacado Matadors kick off their 2024 playoff campaign against Fort Stockton at the Mustang Bowl in Andrews on Friday, November 15.
After the Matadors claimed an outright district championship during the regular season, Estacado had a week off with a rare Week 11 bye week. Head Coach Eric Ward said the bye was exactly what the Matadors needed as they prepare for a deep playoff run. Fort Stockton is a talented football team and should prove to be a tough test for the Matadors on Friday night.
Ward spoke about his team's chances and what Estacado needs to do to claim a Bi-District Championship at Lubbock ISD's weekly Coaches Media Luncheon on Thursday. Watch that interview below:
Estacado's run game will be a huge factor in this matchup. If the Matadors can set the tone early, the defense should be able to pin their ears back and force several stops. However, Fort Stockton is a disciplined program and will be a challenge to handle.
Kickoff in this matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Andrews.
