Bridge Closures and Detours in the Lubbock Area

LUBBOCK, TX — According to the Texas Department of Transportation, bridge closures and detours will disrupt traffic in the Lubbock area this week as maintenance work continues on Loop 289 and U.S. 84.

On November 18, the south Loop 289 direct connect bridge to northbound I-27 will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for concrete barrier removal. Traffic will be detoured to 82nd Street.

The westbound U.S. 84 main lanes will be closed to set up concrete barriers, and traffic will be detoured onto the frontage road.

On Tuesday, November 19, eastbound U.S. 84 will be closed for similar work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Traffic will use the frontage road. Both directions of U.S. 84 will be down to one lane.

On Wednesday, November 20, the I-27 southbound frontage road connector bridge to the westbound Loop 289 frontage road will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for concrete barrier removal. Traffic will be detoured to 82nd Street. Also, the I-27 southbound frontage road bridge just south of 66th Street will be closed for barrier installation, with traffic rerouted to University Avenue.

All work is weather permitting, and drivers are advised to expect delays and follow posted detours.
