Shallowater's Best Kept Secret Is Up for Sale

SHALLOWATER, TX — Fred’s Garage in Shallowater is officially up for sale. 

Owners Ben and Alana shared the news with the Shallowater community, assuring everyone that the popular local hangout spot, known for its coffee and breakfast in the morning and craft cocktails, pizza, and sandwiches for lunch and dinner, is doing well and will not close anytime soon.

“We wanted you to hear this from us before anyone else adds their own spin on things or spreads rumors,” the couple said in a statement on Facebook.

“Fred’s is doing insanely well — in fact, it’s doing so well that we’ve realized we just can’t keep managing it along with our other jobs long-term.”

Ben and Alana explained that while Fred’s Garage has been a huge success, it’s become too much for their family to handle. Right now, they only serve 9 out of the 21 meals each week and believe the business has a lot of potential for growth — but it needs new leadership to take it to the next level.

“We want Fred’s to be able to offer more to the community, but we just don’t have the time to make that happen,” they said. “It could do so much more, but it just can’t come from us.”

Despite the sale, Fred’s Garage isn’t going anywhere.

Ben and Alana reassured their customers that all events, live music, and parties scheduled for this month would still take place as planned. They also said that Fred’s will close for the year on December 21st and reopen on January 8th, 2025, just like last year.

Fred’s Garage is officially listed "For Sale By Owner," and the owners are giving the local community the first chance to buy it. They mentioned that it could be a great opportunity for a few families to purchase together. The owners are also offering to help new buyers with everything they’ve learned to keep the business running smoothly.
