LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Police Department is asking the public for help with any information about a fatal motorcycle crash on December 23 on Marsha Sharp Freeway. Authorities are looking for any witnesses or video footage to help piece together the events leading up to the crash.
At approximately 4:49 p.m. on December 23, officers responded to reports of a collision in the westbound lanes of the 5300 block of Marsha Sharp Freeway.
According to the latest update from LPD, Maguire Vogel, 22, and Ceasar Espejo, 21, were riding separate motorcycles when they crashed into each other.
Vogel lost control of his bike, swerved to the right, struck a guardrail, and was ejected from his motorcycle, hitting the asphalt.
Vogel was transported to University Medical Center by EMS with serious injuries but was later pronounced dead. Espejo was not harmed in the crash.
The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is still investigating the cause of the crash. While reckless driving is suspected, no official cause has been determined yet. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has video footage to come forward to help in the investigation.
“Any additional information or videos from the public could be crucial in helping us understand what happened,” said Detective Matt Roller.
