- 2023-24: Texas State Offensive Analyst
Scott brings an impressive résumé as both a player and coach, highlighted by his experience working alongside Leftwich at Incarnate Word and Texas State. During Scott’s tenure as an offensive analyst, Texas State emerged as one of the top offensive programs in the nation, helping the Bobcats achieve their first two bowl appearances and 16 combined wins over two seasons.
Scott’s playing career under Leftwich at Incarnate Word in 2022 showcased his dynamic skills. As the Cardinals’ starting quarterback, Scott amassed 4,686 passing yards and 60 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. Additionally, he rushed for 712 yards and 11 touchdowns on 132 carries. His remarkable performance earned him the prestigious Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in FCS football.
Incarnate Word capped off the 2022 season with a 12-2 record and a berth in the FCS semifinals, marking the program’s deepest postseason run. Scott’s accolades included Southland Conference Player of the Year and first-team All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Associated Press. He also set single-season school records in several categories, including completion percentage (70.9%), passing efficiency (197.4), passing yards (4,686), and total touchdowns (71).
Scott’s collegiate journey began at LSU, where he signed out of high school as the 2015 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year. At Zachary High School, he led the Broncos to a Class 5A state championship. His college career included stops at East Mississippi Community College, Missouri, and Nicholls State, where he completed his undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on mathematics in 2021.
In addition to his coaching experience, Scott played in nine games during the 2024 United Football League (UFL) spring season as a rookie quarterback for the Arlington Renegades. He entered the league as the top overall pick in the XFL Dispersal Draft after being selected second overall in the USFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Maulers.
Scott is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration from Incarnate Word, with an anticipated graduation date this May. He replaces Kirk Bryant, who left the Texas Tech staff to become offensive coordinator at Midwestern State.
