Lubbock Police Release Update on Fatal Crash in West Lubbock

 

LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit released an update on the serious crash that happened on 19th Street and Milwaukee Avenue on Thursday afternoon.

Per LPD, the crash on Thursday afternoon left one woman dead and several others injured.

Officers responded to a crash with injuries at 5:11 p.m. on Jan. 16 near 19th Street and Milwaukee Avenue.

According to the initial investigation, 59-year-old Misty Shaw was driving east in the 6700 block of 19th Street when she lost control of her vehicle and entered the westbound lanes. Shaw’s vehicle collided with one car before continuing east and being struck by a second vehicle driven by 52-year-old Raquel Rodriguez.

Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle, 31-year-old Blake Coomer, was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries. Rodriguez and two passengers in her vehicle were taken to Covenant Medical Center, also with serious injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
