LUBBOCK, TX — As frigid temperatures are expected to hit Lubbock this week, the City of Lubbock is opening its public libraries as emergency warming centers to help residents stay safe and warm.
According to a release from the City of Lubbock, these warming centers will be available when the National Weather Service predicts temperatures at or below 25°F, one inch of snow or more, temperatures below 32°F with rain, severe wind chills, or rapid temperature changes.
All four Lubbock Public Library branches will be open during regular hours as warming centers. They will provide water, free Wi-Fi, and charging stations for anyone who needs a warm place to stay. The City asks that visitors be respectful of others and any scheduled programs or events.

Thursday–Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM - Godeke Library
