LUBBOCK, TX — A fire late Tuesday afternoon destroyed a storage shed and a dog house, killing a female dog and her 10 puppies.
Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to the 4700 Block of Lehigh Street for a backyard grass fire at around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 21. When firefighters arrived, they found a shed fully engulfed in flames and requested additional help.
The fire was contained to the shed and dog house. Sadly, a female dog and 10 of her puppies were killed in the fire.
The Lubbock Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire was a heat lamp inside the dog house.
Fire officials remind the public to use heat lamps carefully and keep them at a safe distance from animals and any flammable materials.
