LEVELLAND, TX—South Plains College announced in a release that enrollment increased by 6.8% for Spring 2025.
According to a press release from SPC, the current enrollment is 9,771 students. In Spring 2024, there were only 9,149 students enrolled.
A big part of this growth comes from high schoolers who earn dual-credit college credits in courses they can take at their high school. This spring, 4,389 students are enrolled in the dual-credit program, a jump from 3,769 last year.
Dual enrollment allows high school students to earn transferable college credits, which could reduce the time needed to earn a college degree, said the release.
SPC President Robin Satterwhite expressed how pleased she was with the increase in the statement. "We’re really happy with the growth in enrollment, especially with our dual-credit students," Satterwhite said.
"They are an important part of our school, and we’re proud to offer opportunities that help students across our region."
