DALLAS, TX — The Dallas Mavericks made a blockbuster trade over the weekend that sends the Mavericks' star to Los Angeles. Luka Doncic spent all seven seasons in his career with the Mavs but will now play for the Lakers. After finding out about the trade, the Mavs' ex-star released a letter to the city of Dallas.
Doncic stated his appreciation for the city and the entire DFW community during his tenure with Dallas.
"In good times and bad, from injuries to the NBA Finals, your support has never changed," Doncic said. "Thank you for not only for sharing my joy in our best moments but also for lifting me up when I needed it most."
The trade that no fan of the Mavericks is excited about includes sending Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris to Los Angeles in a three-team deal that also includes the Utah Jazz. The Mavs receive Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first-round draft pick from LA.\
In Dallas' first game without their superstar, the Mavs lost by more than 40 points to the Clevland Cavaliers. Doncic arrived in Los Angeles on Sunday. It is still unknown when one of the NBA's best players will make his debut in the purple and gold. Doncic is currently dealing with a lower leg injury, but needless to say, Mavs' fans are not happy.
