OLTON, TX — The No. 3 Farwell Lady Steers traveled to Olton on Tuesday night to take on the Fillies at Olton High School. In the first half, it looked like Olton could hang with Farwell, but after halftime, the Lady Steers took control, capitalizing on turnovers to finish with a 73-25 win.

The first half was slow to get going, with both teams exchanging shots. For the Fillies, turnovers were a major issue, despite a few timely three-pointers that kept them within reach. However, they struggled to match the Lady Steers’ size and physicality. Farwell’s Bella Jaime was flawless at the free throw line to help boost the Lady Steer’s dominance. After a few boards turned into easy second-chance points, the Lady Steers gave themselves a comfortable 34-13 lead at halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Lady Steers put the pedal to the metal. Every time the Fillies tried to get past Farwell’s defense, a Steers player was there to steal the ball, push it down the court, and finish with a quick layup. With 23 points scored in the third quarter, turnovers and missed passes carried over into the fourth. The score kept growing for the Lady Steers, and the Fillies took the rest of the game as a chance to work on their passing, but it wasn’t enough. As the buzzer sounded, the No. 3 Farwell Lady Steers took the win, 73-25.
Farwell’s Landri Richey led all scorers on Tuesday night with 22 points, Makylee Baldwin scored 15, and Bella Jaime scored 14.
Olton’s Harlow Gorman scored 9 points for the Fillies, and Analise Ramage scored 8.
The Olton Fillies will travel to New Deal on February 10 to take on the Lady Lions for their last district matchup of the season. Tip-off for that game is at 7:30 p.m.
