LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock High School hosted a signing ceremony for four of its student-athletes who put pen to paper to sign with universities to play at the next level on Wednesday.
Joseph Acuna was the lone football athlete to sign, while Lubbock High also had three members of the Westerners' baseball team, Aiden Herrera, Ivan McGwire, and Jasiah Ordonez, to further their athletic ambitions.
Check out the signing below:
Joseph Acuna played defensive tackle for the Westerners last season. The young man will attend Eastern New Mexico to play football in the fall. Eastern New Mexico is a Division II school in the Lone Star Conference that competes against schools like West Texas A&M, UTPB, Lubbock Christian, and Angelo State.
On the baseball side, Aiden Herrera will attend New Mexico Highlands University. Like Eastern New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands is a Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Conference. The Rocky Mountain Conference and the Lone Star Conference play each other in the playoffs in multiple sports each season.
Next, Ivan McGwire and Jasiah Ordonez signed to play for Frank Phillips College next year. The two will attend the same program and will continue on as teammates into the future. Frank Phillips College competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division and is in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.
