Lubbock Kidnapping Suspect Caught After Multi-County Pursuit

 

LUBBOCK, TX — A fatal shooting and kidnapping in South Lubbock late Monday night has led to an arrest after a multi-county pursuit.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, the incident occurred at an apartment complex in the 3800 block of 130th Street at 10:43 p.m. on April 7. Officers arrived to find an individual with a gunshot wound inside an apartment.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believed the suspect also kidnapped a woman and child from the apartment at the time. Officers were actively searching for the suspect, as well as the woman and child.

An update at 2:04 a.m. stated the suspect led multiple law enforcement agencies on a chase through multiple counties, according to a release from the Crosby County Police Department.

“Almost immediately Crosby County Deputy C.King spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the SUV as it was driving through Ralls TX. The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.”

Crosby County Deputies led a pursuit that traveled over 119 miles through multiple counties, eventually ending in Garza County where the suspect crashed in Post. After fleeing on foot, he was arrested by the Garza County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman and child were found safely in the vehicle and are now with law enforcement, says LPD.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information is released.
