LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX — Authorities have identified the two people found dead inside a Lubbock County home late Tuesday night and say the case appears to be a murder-suicide.

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an emergency call around 11:46 p.m. on April 15 at a residence in the 7000 block of County Road 6100. The caller reported discovering Teresa Buritica De Mayon, 62, and Joel Mayon, 69, deceased inside the home.

When deputies arrived, they secured the scene and contacted investigators. The preliminary investigation shows the incident was a homicide followed by a suicide. Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds, says LCSO.

The Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting in the investigation.

This investigation is active and ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.
