Monterey State Champs to Grand Marshal Lubbock's Cinco de Mayo Parade

LUBBOCK, TX — Los Hermanos Familia has announced that the Monterey High School Girls Basketball Team, fresh off their state championship win, will serve as the Grand Marshal for Lubbock’s 2025 Cinco de Mayo Parade.

The parade, now in its 12th year, will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. The route begins at First Baptist Church on Broadway and will head east down Broadway Street, ending at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, according to a press release.

This year’s theme is “¡Mexican Lotería Party, Fiesta Loterías!”

"Los Hermanos Familia's mission is strengthening families and building community," said Amaris Garcia, Parade Co-Chair. "We're urging schools and organizations, car clubs, businesses, community, and families to come have fun and bring their favorite loteria characters to life," she added.

Even with rain in the forecast, Los Hermanos Familia and their partner organization, the Purple Hearts South Plains Texas Chapter, say the parade will go on as scheduled.

Groups interested in joining the parade can find the entry form online here.

Line-up begins at 8:30 a.m., and the parade will start at 10 a.m.
